As the proud owners of the 70 year old former Brooks Brothers Garland Shirt Company, we are seeking a detail and team oriented Industrial Engineer to join our team and our efforts of continuous improvement in our garment manufacturing processes. Our company makes premium apparel for Brooks Brothers, The Vermont Flannel Company, Bill’s Khakis, and others.
TITLE: Industrial Engineer
Job Description:
Support the overall manufacturing operations at a premium apparel manufacturer. You will hit the ground running as a critical member of our engineering team, to review, analyze and implement systems, equipment and manufacturing workflow process changes in support of continuous improvement. Working in collaboration with all team members, you will review material flow, department layout, bill of material design and documentation, along with product and process quality to maximize efficiency, and team member satisfaction and productivity.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Uses lean manufacturing concepts to develop improvements in manufacturing processes and operations to promote continuous performance improvement and cost efficiencies
- Supports introduction of new apparel products and categories in assigned department(s) using lean manufacturing concepts to ensure finished product quality and on-time delivery
- Provides day-to-day industrial engineering support to assigned production departments including, technical troubleshooting, specification clarification, and equipment support.
- Manages methods and makes changes to improve process flow within assigned department(s).
- Identifies and recommends methods for improving material flow to and through departments.
- Evaluates and creates processes to optimize utilization of floor space.
- Utilizes analytical and problem-solving capabilities to facilitate cost savings from process/product improvements.
- Evaluate machinery and processes and recommends improvements to enhance both operator performance and ergonomics.
- Establish manufacturing process control documentation including but not limited to work instructions, standard work documents, line balance, and PFEP template.
- Establish, review and report monthly on key KPI metrics
- Manage strategic long-term projects in addition to daily activities, as assigned.
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to coordinate activities and facilitate timely workflow.
- Oversee the management ,training, and adherence to all safety protocols and make recommendations on safety enhancements.
- Work with HR Director on all OSHA reporting requirements.
- Follow all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
- Perform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
- Lead cross-functional or department teams to resolve quality or production issues and build consensus
- Collaborate with production employees in developing and deploying new/improved processes and/or equipment and support all required training
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a manufacturing/process/industrial engineer in an apparel manufacturing company.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing Technology.
- Working experience with process flow and process flow mapping.
- Experience with and interest in lean manufacturing and process improvement.
- Proficiency with computer systems utilizing Windows OS, business and CAD software including 3D CAD software, and GSD (General Sewing Data).
- Proficiency with business enterprise software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Work experience in apparel or textiles

Pay: $79,000.00 - $89,000.00 per year
