Who we are looking for:
We are currently seeking talent for a Process Controls Engineer for our Hayward, WI location. Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, this role will develop, evaluate, and improve the manufacturing controls and automation utilizing knowledge of instrumentation, controls and automation, product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide support for new and existing Process Control systems; this includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Maintain the systems necessary to ensure quality of raw materials and finished products, providing primary support for all chemistry / quality related manufacturing issues.
- Troubleshoot, coordinate necessary repairs or upgrades, and oversee/perform preventative maintenance and service to process control equipment, control systems, equipment calibration, and instrumentation equipment to provide for the reliable operation of this equipment
- Monitor and improve the efficiency and output of the plant, ensure the manufacturing process works at optimal levels, maximize the rate and quality of all surface treaters in order to meet supply requirements
- Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements
- Collaborate on the preparation of engineering analysis of projects that includes preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection.
- Apply principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design and controls strategy, including conceptual, scheme and detail design. Ensure that all aspects of the operation and process meet specified safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead Corrective and Preventative Action documentation and response, including leading the site in the discipline of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Planning
- Work closely with automation, engineering, operations and safety functions to ensure all aspects of change management are executed, and maintain all quality control standards. The ideal candidate will have HMI and PLC knowledge, be experienced with various drives and equipment integration and have the ability to communicate across all groups of the organization.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Gain visibility and experience with Plant Management through collaboration with fellow site leaders, as well as Corporate Manufacturing, Controls Engineering & Supply Chain
- Serve as a member of Plant Leadership Team, supporting the success and growth of all employees on-site
- Support Growth & Innovation and Research & Development teams with New Product Development and New Product Integration as it pertains to process controls.
To be successful, you will need:
- B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years engineering experience in a chemical or paper manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control, Distributive Process Controls Systems (DeltaV), HMI and Automation control systems
- AB RS Logix 5/500/5000, Control Logix, Powerflex drive, HMI/SCADA, I-Fix, ParcView and DeltaV Batch experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of PCs, LANs, computer hardware and software installation and support.
- Installing, calibrating, configuring & troubleshooting process instrumentation (pressure, temperature and flow)
- Ability to manage multiple projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates
- Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility
- Knowledge of process simulation software
- HAZOP Facilitation and PSM Knowledge
- On-Call for Quality and Production issues
- Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 20 lbs., standing for extended periods of time, crouching, stooping, climbing stairs, etc.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Personnel leadership experience
