Controls/Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
- Responsible for assisting with the design, development, programming and build of custom, automated equipment. Must be able to perform the initial build of new equipment, program PLC’s and HMI’s, troubleshoot electro-mechanical issues, diagnose, and repair equipment, adjust, and execute maintenance of the equipment. Must maintain conformance to LJB’s quality management system.
Job Accountabilities
- Initial design of electrical controls including specification and schematic creation using AutoCAD
Electrical.
- Initial assembly and wiring of custom automated equipment per customer and internal specifications.
- Design, Analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, or repair automated and semi-automated equipment.
- Troubleshoot and program PLC's and HMI’s.
- Adjust servo motor and actuator parameters.
- Operate computer-assisted manufacturing and design software or equipment for component fabrication and design tasks.
- Confer with other engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential projects.
- Responsible for the design, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
- Interface with Customers to establish requirements, conduct machinery runoffs and act as a technical resource for the machinery.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering.
- Minimum Experience: 0+ years of experience.
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of computer aided design manufacturing and design software, basic use of hand tools, Microsoft Office, CAM software and CREO products.
- Experience with electrical schematic software, AutoCAD Electrical a plus.
- Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for new equipment assembly
- Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, or mechanical system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids.
- Experience in PLC ladder logic programming / PLC troubleshooting.
- Experience and understanding of sensor function, use, and wiring.
- Experience in specifying and commissioning servo motors and drives.
- Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical system components such as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, and field sensors.
- Knowledge of HMI operation and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with the following: electrical design, PLC ladder logic programming,
HMI programming, commissioning.

Travel Requirements: Typical day travel for this position is 10%. Travel is mainly within the state/local area.
