Energy Land and Infrastructure (ELI) is a growing regional professional engineering and surveying firm focused on civil infrastructure serving the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions of the country. Our market sector focus is primarily Energy, Civil Infrastructure, Utilities, Transportation, and Land Development, for private, state, and local government clients. ELI is corporately based in Nashville, Tennessee with additional operations in Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina.
The Civil Engineer is accountable for providing technical design and plans to the project team to achieve the goals and objectives of the project. Pro-active problem-solving skills as well as an interest in developing a knowledge of engineering principles and objectives are necessary to be successful in this role. General tasks associated with this position include the following:
- Perform planning and design tasks including conceptual layouts, grading, storm water management and underground utilities on a wide range of civil engineering projects including industrial, commercial, mixed-use, residential, and others.
- Utilize Civil 3D to design site layouts, earthwork, underground utilities, roadways, natural gas facilities, and solar facilities.
- Research applicable local, county, state, and federal processes and regulations.
- Coordinate and support the preparation and submission of required permits to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Inspect facilities or sites to determine if they meet specifications or standards.
- Provide engineering support to the project team.
- Collaborate with project team including the project manager, design lead, and CAD designers to ensure company standards and best practices are implemented.
- Survey data processing and database management.
- Communicate effectively, both written and oral, with project team, management staff, and clients.
*Some travel required to participate in client meetings and visit project sites
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (simular engineering degree will be considered)
- Fundamentals in Engineer certificate or the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
- 3+ year experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Preferred but not required)
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability and willingness to learn and accept new responsibilities as experience is gained
