This posting seeks candidates for the full range of technical experience in systems engineering – from entry-level to the highest technical skill and experience level. The candidate’s assignments will be appropriately based on their skill and experience level throughout their career in systems engineering. Responsibilities and technical assignments will grow as you acquire and grow your skills and experience in your career here. As a Systems Engineer/Technical Authority for assigned systems or processes, the candidate will be responsible for implementing life cycle systems engineering practices in support of their systems, structures, and relevant projects. Specifically, those practices described in standards and guides ISO 15288, ISO 29148, DOE G 413.3-1, and INCOSE best practices form the basis for our work in systems engineering and requirements engineering. The candidate will support all phases of systems engineering as required - from conceptualization, design, integration & test, and operations with life cycle support. The candidate will solve technical problems throughout the life cycle using analytical methods with tools that support model-based systems engineering (MBSE), electronic requirements engineering and management, modeling & simulation, reliability engineering, and others.
The candidate will implement a Systems Engineering process that provides a structure for solving design problems and tracking requirements flow from planning through the design effort and to project completion. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for integrating life cycles that involves customers in the design process and ensures that the system developed is viable throughout its life. The candidate will originate and establish requirements flow down, elicitation, capture, subsequent dependent requirement derivation, traceability establishment, satisfaction determination, allocation to design, verification, integration validation, and management.
The candidate will use Digital Engineering methods and tools in performance of the work including the Vitec Genesys Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or CAMEO tool, IBM Rational DOORS or DOORS Next Generation, FlexSIM or ExtendSim modeling & simulation tools, Model Center and others as required in performance of the work. The Systems Engineer will develop technical solutions to complex problems, which require a high use of ingenuity and creativity.
Specific experience in MBSE, DOORS, and modeling & simulation tools are helpful but not required. Training will be provided to selected candidates as necessary for these tools.
Systems engineering, software development, or information analysis skills and experience are highly applicable to this position as well.
Opportunities are available at all of our Engineering position levels, including entry-level for recent graduates. The responsibilities of the position for a selected candidate vary depending on the position level and are based on Knowledge required, Scope and Complexity of problems and solutions addressed, Autonomy (degree of latitude and judgement expected), Interaction & Leadership expected, Impact (degree of contribution expected), and Education & Experience.
