Our team has a broad range of experience working on military, commercial and unmanned air vehicles. Job Overview
Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management. Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems, or management information systems.
A Structural Analysis Engineer will use their technical expertise to analyze aircraft structure and systems installations. The engineer will have a thorough knowledge in the field of aircraft structural analysis, a broad knowledge of one or more related disciplines (finite element modeling, classical stress analysis, durability and damage tolerance), and apply their understanding of the principles of structural analysis toward the solution of technical problems. The engineer will be responsible for preliminary and detailed analysis of aircraft structures, structural assemblies and full documentation of structural substantiation based on results.
Responsibilities and Duties
MTech is looking for multiple engineers with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Finite Element Modeling and Analysis:
- Must have experience with finite element modeling for:
- Metals and composites
- Linear and nonlinear statics
- Buckling and normal modes
- Experience with various levels of structure idealization:
- Air Vehicle Finite Element Models (AVFEM)
- Fine Grid / Fastener Level Models
- Experience with the following FEA is preferred but not required:
- Frequency, dynamics and vibration analysis
- Contact and body analysis
- Topology and property-based optimization
Classic Stress and Stability Analysis:
- Develop structural analysis guidelines and methods for primary and secondary structures
- Perform classic strength (stress) and stability analysis using industry accepted standards
- Ensure structural integrity of joints and fasteners through calculations
- Generate detailed structural substantiation reports
- Experience with large airframe OEM analysis is desired (but not required)
Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis:
- Experience in fatigue analysis and fatigue life calculations
- Experience in damage tolerance, durability and crack growth analysis
- Familiar with industry standard analysis methods and software
- Generate high quality technical DaDT reports on aircraft structure for multiple areas
Noise and Vibration Analysis:
- Understanding of noise, vibration and dynamic analysis methods
- Experience in vibration and sonic fatigue analysis
- Experience in flutter analysis is desired (but not required)
- Experience with Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) is desired (but not required)
- Ability to simulate and predict vibration utilizing finite element analysis
- Plan and execute noise and vibration testing on components
- Background in digital signal processing and data analysis
- Interpretation of data to perform functional assessment and noise recommendations
- Generate high quality technical reports
Qualifications and Skills
- BS/MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 3–9 years’ experience required for Aerospace Stress Engineer II
- 10-14 years’ experience required for Aerospace Stress Engineer III
- 15-19 years’ experience required for Aerospace Stress Engineer IV
- 20+ years’ experience required for Principal Stress Engineer
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience with MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN or Siemens FEMAP/NX NASTRAN
- Experience with StressCheck, AFGROW
- Experience with MATLAB
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and written
- Knowledge of PLM systems, specifically Siemens Teamcenter
- Knowledge of modification and repair of US Navy and Marine Corps Aircraft
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in technical writing
- US Citizenship with the ability to attain a SECRET security clearance and maintain International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance standards.
