EI Microcircuits is a turn-key Electronic Contract Manufacturer serving OEM customers in the Medical, Industrial Controls, Military, Agricultural, Transportation, Aerospace, and Consumer markets. EI Microcircuits is recognized in our industry for ‘best-in-class’ quality and customer service.
As Component Engineer, you would provide engineering support of components used on products being manufactured by EI Microcircuits. This includes new BOM (bill of materials) development and sourcing crosses to existing approved manufacturers. Component support is provided to the customer, EI project engineering, and EI purchasing.
Additionally, this position processes ECO (Engineering Change Orders). ECOs involve interpretation and implementation of customer requested updates as well as improvements requested by our Operations teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation and changes to BOM’s (Bill of Materials)
- Provide continued component support for existing products built at EI Microcircuits
- Cross equivalent components to existing as required to provide solutions to sourcing issues
- Evaluate, write & implement engineering change orders (ECO) for existing products
- Define, verify, and release component drawings based on customer requirements
- Work both independently and under the direction of Project Engineers on both new and existing projects
- Engineering documentation to support production of electronic products.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team and personal success
- Strong knowledge of electronic/mechanical components
- Knowledge of component regulatory requirements such as RoHS and Reach
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents such as datasheets, drawings, specifications, procedures
- Knowledge of printed circuit assembly practices requirements especially as related to components
- Excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Self-starter with ability to work with a team or independently as needed
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office primarily Excel and Word
- Must be able to sit at a desk and work in front of a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day
- Must be able to efficiently read, write, comprehend, and communicate the English language
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening test and criminal background check
- Must follow all company policies outlined in the EI Microcircuits Employee Handbook of Personnel Policies
- Complete all orientation and training needs as written in policy
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Engineering work in a related specialized field
- Five (5) or more years of relevant engineering experience
