Job description:
The ideal candidate will be a vehicle dynamics expert with experience in tire modeling and vehicle simulations who will directly support tire development team and OEM customers.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and consultation to the development team and OEMs as it pertains
to tire performance on vehicle.
Request, receive, and process data from dynamic tire F&M tests (e.g. Flat Trac) including
handling, ride, harshness and steady-state.
Interpret tire data and models to team and customers.
Interface with internal and external test facilities and OEM customers.
Participate in tire virtual development process.
Clear communication with the team, company, and customers.
Identify, document and standardize best practices in F&M testing and modeling and data use.
Secondary Roles and Responsibilities:
Follow developments in areas of SiL, DiL, XiL testing/applications.
Represent the company at consortia, conferences and research institutions to bring new ideas
for applied research.
Follow trends in future mobility development and advances in tire engineering and modeling.
Provide ideas to reduce the product virtualization gaps and improve competitiveness.
Transfer technology advances to product development, screening, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid physics and vehicle dynamics background is required to apply to solving complex
engineering problems.
Knowledge of tire mechanics/dynamics as part of the vehicle system.
Understanding of tire performance evaluation as part of the vehicle or standalone.
Understanding of force and moment testing and modeling, including post-processing and fitting
of test data.
Experience with MF/Swift, FTire, and similar tire models.
Experience with MBD simulation codes such as ADAMS , CarSim, MotionSolve, or similar.
Working knowledge in mainstream programming languages: Python, Matlab, VB, C/C++.
Ability to use Linux/Unix and Windows programming, scripting and system environments with
minimal support.
Working knowledge of Abaqus, Hypermesh and CATIA, or similar CAE/CAD packages is a plus.
Ability to travel to USA-based test sites and customers, plus occasional international travel.
Education and Experience
M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Five years of relevant experience
Expertise in vehicle dynamics and tire modeling topics
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
