R.J. Corman Signaling is hiring a Signaling Project Manager based out of Nicholasville, KY.
Accountability: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of signaling projects. Provides leadership in developing solutions to major project issues, opportunities, and problems. Responsible for directing and coordinating process improvement activities and personally performing a variety of duties in conjunction with and in direct support to all management members.
Responsibilities:
- Project scheduling, organizing, planning, and monitoring progress within budget and timeframe of Projects.
- Organizes and runs Team Meetings with customer, suppliers, and Internal Team Meetings as required.
- Maintains Open Issues List/Minutes for various Team Meetings.
- Distributes and communicates with each Team on assignments for Project responsibilities to meet customer or Project timelines.
- Creates and maintains timelines, schedules and/or Gant charts for the Production Shop to support customer delivery timing.
- Ability to handle special assignments or process improvement investigations from General Manager or Engineering Manager, providing solutions with Executive summaries.
- Lead solutions for major project issues, opportunities, improvements to the Signaling Build Process.
- Assist General Manager with financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, production reports, quantities for invoicing, etc.) to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
- Represent the company in project meetings with the client / customer; assist in negotiations / strategy meetings, etc. as required.
- Supports Procurement on component deliveries investigation and timing.
- Daily office management responsibilities and process improvement efforts including monitoring and ensuring information flow is correct and timely.
- Responsible for correspondence on all signaling proposals.
- Manages and monitors all projects via project management tool and provides direction for employee utilization, scheduling and critical planning to ensure projects are completed within time and budget constraints.
- Potential to use Microsoft D365 Management system for production and resource scheduling.
- Generates project specific material lists / purchase orders to be secured from one or more vendors. When necessary, negotiate client contract prices with vendors to ensure best possible rates. Including resolving price disputes.
- Lead meetings to determine safety stock quantities to keep inventory at proper level to handle customer demands.
- Maintains master schedule of all active projects.
- Maintains master list of all prospective projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience: Four-year degree in Engineering Technology, Applied Engineering Management, or Business Administration/Finance related discipline. Five years of experience in project management role, engineering technology discipline, finance, accounting, or office management work experience. Requires well-developed understanding of timelines, schedules, running teams, and demonstrated experience with business performance analysis or process improvements. Must have the ability to multi-task, analyze data & report findings, and have well-developed problem solving and creative solution skills. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Outlook. Highly developed people skills with demonstrated experience with all levels of personnel; and fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Physical Requirements: Mobility to participate in some travel within the region encompassing the operations, including visits to customer and supplier locations as required; lifting of up to 50 pounds in the performance of duties; and ability to use computer and telephone and mobile radio media.
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in an inside administrative office environment, and occasional travel with overnight stays. Also performs duties in outside, job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment. Must wear appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
Major or Unusual Problems: Rapidly expanding company requires professional demeanor and ability to multitask in time sensitive office environment. Highly visible admin office position.
Job Dimensions: Performs duties under limited supervision. Minimal supervision of office employees.
