Fiber Optics Engineer – Pascagoula, MS

In-Depth Engineering seeks a Fiber Optics Technician to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. This individual will be supporting our Aegis Ship Integration and Test (SI&T) program - specifically responsible for ensuring ACTS, ORTS, Display Systems and ATD equipment is operable and available for testing. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Must be physically able to work aboard a US Navy ship, lift up to 50lbs, work in a loud environment and support short underway periods. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to domestic locations such as Pearl Harbor HI, Norfolk VA, Everett WA, Mayport FL, Bath ME, Pascagoula MS.
The work is performed at our customer site in Pascagoula, MS.
Duties:
Handles fibers for device routing, ribbon breakouts, component assemblies and custom splicing projects.-
Maintain accuracy of high-density cable structures

Organize and dress all cabling per customer standards.

Responsible for running and terminating fiber optic cables.

Utilize tools for detection and verification testers, certification testers, and advanced OTDR tools for troubleshooting and analysis of existing fiber optic cabling.

Assist the ACNT personnel on troubleshooting miscellaneous equipment in spaces throughout the ship.

Provide timely and completed documentation of work performed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent of education and experience-
1+ years related experience installing, terminating, and testing fiber and other low voltage cabling.

Ability to properly test and trouble shoot installation, perform optical tests and characterizations for fiber optic device modules including visual inspection, geometry, insertion loss and return loss testing

Ability to run Fiber Topology test

Knowledge of the Fiber Optic Test Equipment and experience assembling Fiber Optic Terminals

Must be a US Citizen

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance
