Job Title: Design and Development Engineer
Job Summary: The primary function of the position is to develop specialty tire and/or wheel designs that are used in off-road applications. You will also work closely with customers and suppliers to determine new product requirements and bring products to market.
Essential Functions
- Create parametric models and detailed drawing packages for review and distribution.
- Review customer and supplier prints, models and design proposals for comment and approval.
- Contact customers and suppliers to develop new design concepts and resolve existing design issues.
- Collaborate with the OTR Engineering; Purchasing; Sales and Marketing Team to develop new platforms. Support Operations to resolve product issues and bring new product to Market.
- Develop new product specifications and support the testing and validation of new products.
- Multitask and be extremely detailed while performing all tasks and reports.
- Must have good attendance and be a team player.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- Computer Modeling and Drawing proficiency.
- Maintain and file Engineering documents in a Windchill (or similar) data base environment.
- Strong Engineering development background and solid mechanical engineering skill set.
- Time Management
- Collaboration Skills
Requirements:
- Parametric modeling background – CREO preferred. The candidate also needs to develop detailed prints using ASME accepted standards.
- Excellent communication skills are required. The candidate will interface with multiple disciplines (and multiple countries / cultures) to determine product requirements and to coordinate product changes.
- Able to organize, maintain focus, and follow up on projects independently.
- Willing to take on projects as needed.
- Proficient in the English language.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- This role operates in a professional office environment. There is a separate on-site Engineering Lab area where the use of specialized testing and measuring equipment is often required.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting up to 50# is required. Utilizing engineering test and inspection equipment requires some dexterity and flexibility.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time salary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM
Travel
- 5% domestic travel is anticipated, but occasional international may also be required.
Required Education and Experience
- BS Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar from an accredited university.
- Extensive 3D modeling experience. CREO is the preferred platform.
- Three (3) years minimum of product development experience.
- Extensive Experience in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Education and Experience
- A tire and/or wheel development background is preferred.
- Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) Systems such as Windchill
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software modeling is desirable.
- A 3D printing capability is helpful.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $117,000.00 per year
