PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Design Engineer is vital in delivering our high-quality products to customers. The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new and existing products, creating engineering control documents, and supporting Grip-Tite in product rollouts while ensuring quality standards are met.

FOCUS:
- Design, development implementation and analysis of products and systems.
- Assists in the development of new market initiatives and may support existing marketing strategies.
- Creates and improve product designs to meet the needs of Grip-Tite’s customers.
- Documents and maintains findings of product tests against established criteria. Ensures product specifications and materials fall within requirements.
- Prepares and presents estimates of product costs and develops BOM for new and existing products.
- Uses lean principles to eliminate waste in Grip-Tite’s internal processes. Continuously looks for ways to control costs by optimizing critical design, eliminating unnecessary costs, and improves efficiencies.
- Will work in conjunction with manufacturing engineers to resolve manufacturing and/or quality issues.
- Prepares technical reports and specifications.
- Performs design calculations.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5 years of experience in Design, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering
- Previous 3D modeling experience (previous experience with Solidworks a plus)
- Process control and automation design
- Experience with ERP Systems (Macola and/or Acumatica a plus)
- Experience in steel fabrication processes (laser cutting, stamping, CNC sawing, robotic welding etc.)
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Excellent planning and communication skills
- High level of professionalism
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Positive attitude
- Highly organized
- Ability to communicate difficult concepts
- Forging experience a plus
- Direct hands-on experience with industrial equipment a plus
EDUCATION:
Engineering Degree or equivalent required.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
