Mesta Electronics, Inc. specializes in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced power quality and power conversion equipment. Mesta's products offer innovative design, superior efficiency, and exceptional reliability, ranging from highly advanced harmonic filters to extremely precise induction heating power supplies.
In July 2021, Mesta was acquired by Hammond Power Solutions (HPS). Through this collaboration Mesta and HPS continue to grow their presence in the power quality market. HPS is a North American leader for the design and manufacture of dry-type standard and custom engineered magnetics, including transformers, reactors, active and passive harmonic filters and dV/dT filters. HPS has headquarters in Guelph, Ontario and has operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and India.
We currently have an opening for a Sr. Electrical Engineer/Manager, come grow with us! This position is located at Mesta Electronics, Inc in North Huntingdon, PA. Mesta Electronics, Inc. specializes in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced power quality and power conversion equipment.
The Sr. Electrical Engineer/Manager’s purpose is to design and support sophisticated microcontroller and DSP controlled electrical power equipment. The design work consists of expanding and improving existing lines of this equipment as well as potential cost reductions. Utilize knowledge of industrial/commercial power systems operating from up to 600 volts 3-phase power including sound understanding of harmonic issues per IEEE 519 and appropriate mitigation (using active and passive harmonic filters). Within 1-2 years, be able to take on management responsibility for a small Engineering Team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design microcontroller and DSP based controls of active harmonic filters and induction heating inverter power supply equipment including both hardware and software design (bulk of design is software) with code written in a mix of C and assembler, PC design and layout. Will collaborate with other HPS Engineering personnel or design requirements for magnetics used in both active harmonic filters and induction heating equipment.
· Support Sales and Field with both existing products and new products by assisting Sales in determining proper application of both active harmonic filters and induction heating equipment and assisting customers or field personnel with troubleshooting problems.
· Design power electronics (IGBT based inverters) and supporting passive components
· Support manufacturing of active harmonic filters and induction heating equipment by providing construction procedures, test procedures and troubleshooting support.
· Provide “support” documentation which included producing Test reports, Start-up procedures, Installation/Operating/Maintenance Manuals, for use internally and by end user.
Qualifications:
· Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree, Bachelors (required), Masters (preferred)
· Knowledge of real-time control theory and digital filtering techniques.
· Knowledge of power electronics, especially IGBTs used in power inverters.
· Power electronic design and packaging.
· PC board design and layout.
· Power filtering using inductors and capacitors.
· 10+ years in at least some of the fields related to the needed skills.
· Previous experience managing engineers and technicians preferred.
