Responsible for supporting Industrial & Engineered Systems (IES) sales via comprehensive, world-class technical representation, service, support, and training, to end users, distributors and their contractors.

In the assigned territory, provide technical service, field services and support on Franklin Electric and Pioneer products, including: engines, motors, pumps, and electronic drives and controls.
- Guide testing and troubleshooting of Franklin and Pioneer products in water systems installations.
- Provide direction and expertise during new product installations.
- Represent Franklin Electric and Pioneer at on-site installation meetings to timely resolve field issues.
- Present technical seminars to end users, distributors, dealers, and contractors. Audiences range in size from less than 10 to over 200.
- Represent Franklin Electric and Pioneer at trade shows and special events.
- provide field feedback to IES Marketing on market conditions, product enhancements, and needed upgrades.
- Write and submit weekly reports needed to highlight problems at specific sites and/or with certain customers or products.
- Provide customer guidance in the initial design phase and proper application of products including: diesel engine pump packages, electric pump packages, line shaft turbines, electric submersibles, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and control panels.
- Provide specialized training to specific customers.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Develop good rapport with end users and distributors. The field service engineer becomes an extension of the sales team and growing the business.
- Regularly work with cross functional teams including: sales, marketing, product management, engineering and applications teams, to share product feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of water systems in general, with specific knowledge of pumps, diesel engines, motors, drives and controls.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Ability to develop strong working relationships with water systems professionals.
- Be able to work independently with outstanding organizational skills.
- Previous sales or service experience preferred.
- Self-motivated and energetic personality with a desire to service the customer.
- Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information.
- Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
- Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
- Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
- Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Travels up to 50 percent of the time, including up to 50 percent overnight travel.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant experience required
- BSEE or BSME preferred
- Three to five years of technical, sales, or related water systems or industry experience (preferred).
- Prior experience diagnosing/troubleshooting diesel engine performance (preferred).
- Experience with root cause analysis (preferred)
- Basic experience with vibration analysis and data collection (preferred)
