Bridge Engineer

The Markosky Engineering Group has an immediate need for a Bridge Engineer in our Structures Department.
The successful candidate will be based in one of our offices (Ligonier, PA; York, PA; Charleston, WV, or Steubenville, OH). Markosky is currently working in a hybrid work environment. Occasional travel to office will be required.
This position is ideally expected to involve both design and inspection of bridge and other highway structures.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a Bridge Engineer on design projects including structure design, checking of structure calculations, development of plan details, assistance with CAD development, and development of submissions and other project documents
- Work with Project Manager to lead and coordinate design tasks
- Assume task lead and project management duties
- Perform bridge inspections and develop inspection reports occasionally
- Other projects / responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Training Requirements (licenses/programs/certificates): Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required. Professional Engineer (PE) preferred in PA and/or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) preferred and/or the ability to obtain certification with preference to individuals who have completed the training for PennDOT inspections
- Fracture critical certification and experience is desirable
Knowledge Requirements:
- Structural design including steel, prestressed concrete and reinforced concrete design
- Working knowledge of CADD including Microstation and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of engineering principles, design standards and codes
- Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Commission design procedure is highly desirable
- Plans, reports, and specifications preparation
- Bridge inspection procedures and practices
- Bridge inspection report development
Skills:
- Good oral and written communications required
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to perform the field work required of the position

Pay: $65,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
