WWe, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Design Engineer within our Engineeringteam to help support our business. PHC is a leading supplier of hydraulic cylinders for material handling, construction, agriculture, and transportation markets. As a Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with OEM customers to design products for their needs. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by expanding our customer base and fulfilling their unique needs. The team you will be working with is laid back, but hard-working, and values creative innovation.
So, what will you be doing as a Design Engineer?
· Design, develop, and maintain hydraulic cylinders utilizing software tools and engineering methods
· Generate and maintain, component and general arrangement drawings including product specifications, BOMs, methods of manufacturing, and product documentation
· Perform design analysis, calculations, tolerancing, stack-up analysis, and others by applying proper engineering guidelines and industry standards
· Create and/or maintain Engineering Masters and IDs in the ERP system
· Support with Engineering Change Order process, including technical assessments, implementation, and notification
· Ensure compliance with the industry’s safety standards
· Research new product ideas and improved designs
· Analyze prototype validation and test data
· Write detailed reports and maintain accurate records
· Lead and/or participate in design reviews.
· Lead and/or participate in Design FMEA for new development and/or improved products
· Apply value engineering and DFMA methods for new product development and improved designs
· Collaborate cross-functionally to support other groups incusing Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Customer Support, and account managers
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
· BS in Mechanical/Design Engineering, or equivalent
· 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or similar role(s)
· Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Pro-E)
· A working knowledge of GD&T.
· Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel as communication and analysis tools.
· Self-motivated
· Creative thinkers with excellent problem-solving skills.
· Be able to work well in a team environment
· Detail-oriented, highly organized with strong attention to detail
· Ability to multi-task – effectively manage and prioritize simultaneous demands
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Things we consider a plus
· Experience in structural FEA and CFD
· Experience with Hydraulic Cylinders
