The role of the Corporate Environmental Engineer is to assist in the management of the environmental programs, which include air quality, water quality, and solid wastes issues, to ensure that the company complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions
- Compliance, Audit & Recordkeeping
Collaborate with consultants, Engineering Department, and EHS Director to prepare, obtain and renew all plant environmental permit applications, including but not limited to:
Air quality permits (New Source Review and Operating permits)
Water quality permits (NPDES permits)
Solid waste authorizations (Notice of Registration)
Perform EHS audits in accordance with company’s written procedures. This includes noting corrective actions in the audit reports and follow up to ensure that corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) are being completed
Manage the ISO 14001 certification process for the organization. This includes assisting the plants to obtaining the initial certification, the annual surveillance audits, and the recertification audits
Assist Plants to comply with EPA Consent Decree requirements, including the timely submission of all required reports and notices
Assist Plants to complete stack testing programs that occur at the plants on a periodic basis. This includes the annual relative accuracy test audits (RATAs) for the continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS)
Maintain Corporate environmental procedures
Manage all corporate environmental records and files to ensure regulatory recordkeeping requirements
Assist the plants to compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental regulations
Act as lead in internal audits and assessments of each Plant’s Environmental programs
Monitor professional literature and attend seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements
- Risk Assessment & Document Control
Evaluate hazards within the facilities for safety, health, and environmental risks
Manage environmental records and documents so they are accessible at all times according to regulations
Maintain and develop filing systems, both electronic and hard copies, for all documents and records for corporate programs
Review and update TCCB Environmental programs as necessary
Complete the reporting and the investigation of all environmental incidents and ensure that corrective actions are taken if needed
Corporate representative for ISO 14001 certification
Regular attendance is required
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the EHS Director
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline
- 2-5 years of professional Environmental experience
- Exemplary oral and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and program evaluation skills
- 1-2 years of conducting individual and group training exercises
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Ability to define and solve technical problems
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in team environment
- Must be able to complete tasks with little or no supervision
