As a Mechanical Engineer at Plantible, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of controlled growth environments for the cultivation of novel aquatic plants that thrive in semi-controlled aquatic growth environments. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create advanced solutions for climate control, nutrient delivery, and other systems that support optimal biomass growth and plant composition. Additionally, you will play a key role in understanding and developing techno-economic models to drive cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and components for aquatic controlled growth environments and greenhouses, tailored for novel aquatic plant cultivation.

Identify and execute opportunities for automation and integration within the agricultural supply chain to optimize performance, efficiency, and sustainability.

Develop and apply environmental models to optimize performance, efficiency, and sustainability of aquatic plant cultivation systems.

Develop and apply knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and other relevant modeling skills to analyze and optimize system designs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agronomists, biologists, engineers, and software engineers, to develop fully integrated systems.

Understand the importance of techno-economic models and contribute to their development to ensure cost-effective and sustainable system designs.

Perform testing and validation of mechanical designs to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and performance.

Manage projects and coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other external partners to meet project timelines and goals.

Maintain documentation of mechanical designs, including CAD drawings, specifications, and reports

Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in agricultural engineering and controlled growth environments

Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Civil Engineer and or related field

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on automation, robotics, and ag tech applications

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and integration principles specific to agricultural automation and robotics

Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)

Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar) and a strong background in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and other relevant modeling skills

Demonstrated understanding of techno-economic models and their application in system design and optimization

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
