Impact Employment Solutions is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the role of Control Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Delta, Ohio and will be hired into the company after a year. The qualified candidate will be working for a company that is a leading international supplier of steel products and building solutions found in the global building and construction industry.
Job Description
This position will be accountable to a Caster Control Systems Engineer. The candidate will work with existing Caster Control Engineers to meet the requirements of the day-to day operations of the Casting department. The candidate will interface with operators, process engineers, quality engineers or electrical maintenance personnel daily.
The casting process operates 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. The candidate should be willing to be contacted outside of office hours, including nights and weekends, to address production critical issues. These calls are usually less than once per month but occasionally increase as new projects come online. Currently, there may be multiple calls per week due to commissioning a large expansion project.
The candidate will install and maintain commercial application software (databases, etc.) custom application software (process control software), manage user requests, manage small projects, and may also install and support desktop and server computers and operating systems.
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic Microsoft Windows desktop / server administration
- Experience or interest in computer programming
- Basic computer repair
- Familiar with IP Networking concepts
- Interested in industrial automation using computers and networks
- Willing to work after hours occasionally
- Very good interpersonal skills
- Willingness to accept new challenges
- Willingness to work in dusty environments
- Willing to receive additional technology training.

Example Duties:
- Configure systems to perform automation tasks
- Review automation system logs to troubleshoot production problems.
- Query data from databases.
- Install Microsoft SQL Server for a new or upgraded automation system.
- Assist IT/OT personnel with network requests or issues.
- Work with IT/OT personnel to implement security related best practices on automation systems.
- Identify and implement unique solutions to solve manufacturing operational needs.
- Purchase software, parts, service contracts as needed. Maintain software license compliance.
- Maintain current hardware and software support agreements with suppliers
Responsibilities
- Learn the basic steel making operation
- Learn the casting operation.
- Become a proficient administrator of caster control computer systems.
- Support requests from operators and engineers for improvements, data, etc.
- Accept after hours calls from operators
- Make parameter changes to control systems as requested by process engineers.
- Test and install updated automation control software.
- Assist other Control Systems Engineers with in-house application installation/administration
- Generate purchase orders for support contracts, software, parts, automation equipment, etc.
- Troubleshoot problems with automation equipment like computers, machine vision cameras, etc.
- Ensure automation computer systems comply with cyber-security initiatives and best practices.
- Monitor control system computers for problems.
- Write batch files or scripts to keep computer file systems from filling up.
- Desktop (HMIs) and server hardware installations and maintenance Note: PLC work is generally not required other than interfacing with PLC systems
