We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for our Avionics Systems and Software Integration Services Team based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The systems engineer will join a team of software and systems engineers driving solutions for test platforms for many avionics teams. The team supports Avionics and Mission Systems integration and systems level testing & verification via simulated, emulated, real, virtual, and rehosted software of airplane wiring, hardware in loop, & flight deck environments. Tools suites control static/dynamic simulation, fault injection, stimulus via real and virtual I/O (analog/discrete/power/ARINC busses/Ethernet/etc.) and physical breakout access. This is a great role to get experience across the entire breadth of our Avionics organization.
This is a hybrid role based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A comprehensive relocation package is available.
Primary Responsibilities:

Work in a team building and integrating avionics test stands and system integration facilities
-
Design of wiring harnesses and device interconnects
-
Coordinate with project assistants in ordering hardware parts
-
Provide oversite for hardware technicians building rigs and test stands
-
Participate in Avionics rig design and assist with system level integration and troubleshooting of simulation software, wire harnesses, and avionics devices.

Integrate hardware devices such as 3rd party avionics I/O devices and equipment installation in rigs

Coordinate equipment repairs and modifications for rig hardware
Basic Qualifications:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.

Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions
-
Ability to work in a team and make sound ethical decisions that drive results
-
Ability to learn new technologies and tools and apply them to work at hand
-
Ability to use scripting languages such as Python and Robot to perform basic tasks

Ability to use Office 365 to generate documents, spreadsheets and presentations
-
Systems engineering experience with data and hardware interfaces between digital devices
-
Ability to support rig users to diagnose problem reports and provide solutions
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with or building hardware test stands and system integration facilities

Basic project status reporting experience

Willingness to learn virtualized avionics system integration, inclusive of increased scripting language use and software configuration files
