This position provides technical consultation on HSE related waste issues across the Enterprise. This position reports to Waste and Water Manager in an Environment and Sustainability Group in the Chevron Technical Center.
This position will advise the global operations on opportunities to reduce waste footprint and incorporate circularity principles at the facility and the enterprise level. Make a difference by developing creative solutions for sustainable material management and enhance resource recovery across the value chain. Develop waste minimization strategy and implement technology solutions to sustain our environmental performance in an ever-changing environment. Lead R&D projects in collaboration with industry partners, universities & research institutions, and vendors to develop and deploy technologies that reduce cost, reduce risk, and provide efficiencies.
The individual should have demonstrated expertise in solid waste/materials management, and/or waste to resource recovery, and/or renewable energy.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Review existing waste practices and programs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency in our operations and across the value chain applying circular economy concepts.

Plan and conduct feasibility studies, waste characterization, waste diversion, recycling plans, and resource recovery strategies to reduce waste generation.

Prepare innovative technology transition, material recovery, and waste management plans to support sustainability goals and lower carbon commitments.

Conduct site inspections and HSE risk assessment for waste management and material recovery facilities.

Communicate transparently and set clear expectations with project teams.

Work in collaboration with specialists and engineers of other disciplines to develop creative ideas and deliver innovative solutions.

Partner with business improvement networks and engage with subject matter experts in other facilities to leverage shared expertise.

Provide technical advice and recommendations to project teams and operations.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or related field.

3+ years of experience in an engineering consulting and/or energy environment in sustainable waste management and/or renewable energy.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Masters, PhD in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or related field.

Demonstrated expertise in solid and/or organic waste management.

Demonstrated expertise is storage, transportation, treatment, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.

Demonstrated expertise in anaerobic digestion, co-digestion, biogas utilization.

Demonstrated understanding of circular economy elements in waste management and resource recovery.
-
Demonstrated expertise of operational compliance strategies to meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Understanding of US federal waste regulations RCRA, CERCLA, DOT is a plus.

Experience with project management and capital budgeting.

Professional Engineering (P.E.) Licensure, or ability to obtain.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $ $128,400 – $ 221,900.
