Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) is a professional who understands the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. QAE knowledge and applied technologies include, but are not limited to, development and operation of quality control systems, application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, the ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices, an understanding of human factors and motivation, facility with quality cost concepts and techniques, and the knowledge and ability to develop and administer management information systems and to audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
This is an advanced, technical position within the General Plastics' Quality Assurance Department. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a strong knowledge of quality concepts, practices and procedures.

Responsibilities
Work with operations, R&D, Engineering and Sales teams to evaluate and test products for both new development and monitoring of existing products- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships team members
- Driving timely root cause analysis and implementation of permanent preventative and corrective actions for quality issues working directly with manufacturing teams, customers and suppliers
- Developing and establishing quality management system procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer specifications and contract requirements
- Supporting AS9100, NADCAP and Customer Audits
- Performing internal product and process audits, and external supplier audits ensuring compliance with Quality Management System. Develop and initiate programs to improve internal and supplier performance
- Using methodical and systemic analytical approaches to perform effective RCCA's
- Assesses quality performance trends and leads improvement efforts
- Writing work instructions, process, and procedure documents to ensure compliance with product, process, customer, and system requirements
- Developing statistical process controls by applying and maintaining applicable control charts, providing training and coaching of others throughout the organization in SPC methodology
- Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continual improvement, lean manufacturing, 5s', and cost reduction activities to areas of production
- Compile and write training material and conducts training sessions on quality-related activities
- Providing Quality support for Manufacturing and Design Engineering group with identifying opportunities for improvement, while reviewing drawings, manufacturing sketches, change requests, routings and other engineering-related documentation
- Support AS9100 compliance
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies
- Conduct other duties as required
Education, Skills and Certifications
Engineering degree a relevant field, e.g., B. Eng. (Mechanical, Material Science, or equivalent)- 3+ years' experience as a Manufacturing or Test Engineer in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and expertise with ASTM, MIL, ISO, or other specified test methods applicable to plastics
- Experience with material flammability preferred
- Experience with TMA and DSC instrumentation preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation abilities with written communication and presentation abilities
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision
